Falling into the abyss
In light of opportunities I missed
A lonely hunter at his trist
My inner fire is absent
My motivation always breaks
After every chance that I don’t take
My good thoughts were a keepsake
But right now they’re stagnant
I’m always anchored down by hesitation
Dragged down to the ocean floor
I’ve been drowning in trepidation
I can't breathe anymore
I’m trapped inside the walls that I built so high
Orchestrating my escape for the hundredth time
All the years that I have spent, stumbling through my ascent
Falling from this climb
This mask's designed with a craftman’s eye
I’m not the person that people see
My mind got the best of me
I’m not the person that people see
My mind got the best of me and when you find me
I’ll be hanging by my fingernails
from self-made structures I will never scale
I’m trapped inside the walls that I built so high
Orchestrating my escape for the hundredth time
All the years that I have spent, stumbling through my ascent
Falling from this climb

Showing up here just to save face
I’ve never felt so out of place
Watching the wallpaper in the living room peel away
Was far more interesting than anything anyone had to say
As I made haste to the exit through the hall
You walked in with your friends, drink in hand, and didn’t notice me at all
So poised and elegant, you took the breath right out of me
And now I can’t bring, I can’t bring myself to leave
I’ve never seen someone like you before
The way you walk around, the scent you wear, has left me wanting more
I’m all frozen up and it’s taken it’s toll
And I’m not sure if it’s you or just this bitter November cold
You caught me staring from across the room
So my eyes shot to the ground to avoid you
And just hoped you didn’t notice (but I know you noticed)
Desperation, infatuation has got a hold on me
The worst it’s ever been
I’ve never seen someone like you before
The way you walk around, the scent you wear, has left me wanting more
I’m all frozen up and it’s taken it’s toll
And I’m not sure if it’s you or just this bitter November cold

Spending tonight
Yet again, home alone
With this bottle my only company
Illuminated by the glow
Of a TV set playing to itself
‘Cos my mind’s too busy focused on something else
I went and let you slip right through my fingers
Your scent still devours me, the thought of you lingers
I saw you in my sleep again, another night of wondering
When I’ll stop dwelling on things I should’ve said to you then
